At the farewell of a valued colleague who made an essential contribution to the Faculteit Sociale Wetenschappen at Universiteit Antwerpen for many years, the staff wanted to give something more than a standard gift. Something personal, creative, and with a nod to his hobby: building with bricks. The result? A unique model of the faculty, specially designed for him to assemble himself.

The model captures recognizable elements of the faculty building: the various glass façades, each with its own structure, the striking mural, and the green rooftop garden with its rounded shapes.

The gift symbolizes more than just the building. It also represents the foundations he laid. By building the model himself, he can quite literally “build” the faculty one last time. And behind “his” windows, the light still shines.
